Southern Copperhead Agkistrodon contortrix ssp. contortrix
The final result. Notice that the Copperheads head is crushed and the skin has been split just behind the head. It is interesting that the open wound has not bled at all. Even though the wound was antimortum, the blood was squeezed out of the tissue while the snake was still alive and there was no post mortum bleeding because the heart was not sending blood back into the area after death.
